This advanced in-service course provides law enforcement officers with practical, scenario-based training in vehicle extraction, subject control, and custody transition.

Each Trainee Will Learn:

  • How to establish lawful authority prior to vehicle extraction.

  • Applicable case law governing vehicle stops and use of force.

  • Recognition of threat cues and tactical vehicle approach.

  • Advanced subject-control applications, including arm-bar and two-on-one control.

  • Two-officer control techniques during active subject resistance.

  • Advanced ground control and custody transition.

  • Team-based vehicle extraction coordination and officer roles.

  • Vehicle immobilization and ignition/key-system considerations.

  • Problem-solving for complicated extraction scenarios.

This advanced course focuses on critical skills required for officers to safely manage and control combative or resistive subjects during close-contact encounters.

Participants will:

  • Develop the ability to recognize, defeat and dominate common grabs while establishing strong positional control that leads to safe and effective take-downs.

  • Use principle-based instruction grounded in Fight IQ concepts such as:

    • mobility, distance management, angles and transitions- officers enhance their ability to control a subject's balance, structure and posture while maintaining officer safety.

  • Students will train and apply practical methods to:

    • establish dominant grips and 2-on-1 control positions, body locks, off balance subjects through posture and base disruption, apply SAFE effective LE take-downs and maintain top control position.

  • Training will include progressive partner drills designed to improve decision making and performance under stress.
