Course Overview:

Enhanced Edged Weapon Response for Law Enforcement

This course provides law enforcement officers with enhanced response strategies for edged weapon encounters in weapons-based environments. Instruction focuses on threat recognition, discretionary versus non-discretionary response time, close-range assaults, movement principles, positional control, de-escalation considerations, and decision-making under stress.

Training incorporates Officer Survival Series principles, scenario-based concepts, and lessons drawn from real-world law enforcement incidents involving edged weapons.

- Creator of Connecticut State Defensive Tactics and Arrest & Control curriculum
- Instructor of thousands of law enforcement officers nationally in defensive tactics, use-of-force decision-making, force-on-force, and scenario-based training
- Specialist in edged weapon response, weapons-based grappling, and instructor development programs
- Integrates real-world police experience with performance-based training in high-stress environments

Law Enforcement Experience

- 25-Year Career as a Connecticut Police Officer (Retired)
- 18 Years Assigned to SWAT Team Operations
- Extensive patrol and investigative experience including narcotics, street crimes, school resource officer, internal affairs, and detective division
- Specialized background in tactical operations and high-risk incidents
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Combatives Background
- 3rd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under Pedro Sauer
- Combatives Black Belt under Matt Larsen
- Owner and Head Instructor of Bushido Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
- Extensive application of grappling within weapons-based and law enforcement environments

When Rob is not teaching or on the mats, I’m usually with his family outdoors: hiking, running, mountain biking, fishing, camping, or finding any excuse to get on an ATV.
